When I first started out, I was making ALL the mistakes. I had zero confidence advertising myself, talking about treatment plans, rebooking, and having difficult conversations. I kept my head down, tried to give excellent massages, and hoped for the best.
For years I was (*cringe*) - taking on clients that didn't match my skill set - working outside my desired operating hours - not raising my rates - over giving while under valuing myself -avoiding conversations -operating with virtually no boundaries (recovering people pleaser, right here!)
Eventually, things evened out, but it was a long & bumpy road that delayed my success. I could've had a practice that ran smoothly & brought me happiness so much sooner if I had felt more confident talking to my clients & setting boundaries. And this is what makes me so good at what I do - I can empathize with how hard communication & boundaries can be. I remember what that hesitation and anxiety feels like. Every script I write for another Massage Therapist I make sure it's something I could deliver myself. I understand what it feels like to not know what to say, and to be scared to say anything at all.
